Happy Sunday... or day 2 of a 3 day weekend ;)

Sunday, January 16, 2011
Anna Claire and I struck out this morning in hopes of getting some of the $44 cricut cartridges. After last weekends deal with the $9.99 ones going on sale WAY before Sunday I was hoping that there were still some of the $44 ones. When we got to Michael's (at 10:13am) they had a sale table set up  with a very FEW $9.99 ones. I got the ones that I would like to own but probably wouldn't have bought at even a discounted price. Then I was able to get Winter Frolic for $44.

I am so excited about this one!! I plan on making some items to go on my classroom door. I know they won't be up long but it's going to be SOOO cute!!

So we also were able to get 3 cartridges on sale for $9.99 ; well at the time we were picking them we thought they were all $9.99. But when we go to check out I found out that 2 of the cake ones were on sale for $4.99. I didn't go back for extra's or duplicates like the lady in front of me did. I know free country... but for lands sake, play nice! Any who... I got two of the cake ones, Birthday cakes and Elegent Cakes, to use with paper. I have seen some BEAUTIFUL scrapbook pages using the boarder feature on the cake cartdriges. I can't wait to play.

And I got one of the $9.99 ones that I had thought would be cute to have but just didn't know if I would use it. But at $9.99 it's worth the risk... so I got Robotz.

I also picked up a second pack of the Valentine Paper by K and Company. I LOVE it so much!! Well I am off to play now... I'll post pictures of what I made tomorrow.

Snow day 2!

Tuesday, January 11, 2011
Today was wonderful but I have to admit that I am ready to get back to school. I can't wait to hear what my kids thought about all the snow. I've been using my time off to craft. Here is a layout that I did yesterday, and finished last night... and a card. The card is for a challenge over at My creative Time. It's a retro challenge... well more of a use your older cricut cartdriges.

This is a tour that we did several years ago at Disney. It's called Behind the Seeds and it takes you into the Land pavillion and shows you the green houses. I LOVED it!! At the end of the tour, the kids got to release lady bugs into the green house. I used my cricut to cut the title and the patterned paper on the left.

This is my card for the challenge. The heart is from Indie Art. This was my first time welding two shapes together to make a card base. I LOVE IT!! This was so super easy, after watching the my creative time you tube video. I made it 4" so it fits into a regular envelope. I can't wait to make more of these!!

Walkin in a winter wonderland!!

Monday, January 10, 2011
It all started on Sunday... the anticipation of the coming snow... the wondering if we would get enough to close school...and then the first flakes flew! The weather men really thought that the snow would start after 3pm, but mother nature let loose at 2:30 with HUGE flakes that quickly covered the surfaces.

This is my car covered in snow. I took pictures of it along the way to show how much snow we got. By the 6pm news they had closed school and we had about 3 inches of snow on the grownd. Everything was so peaceful and quiet outside. I love the sounds of snow covered areas. Simply wonderful.
Bailey wasn't sure why we were all so excited at first. She could tell that something was happening and would bark at the snowflakes. The first few trips outside were hard for her... she didn't like the feel of the snow under her paws and she would stick her noise in the snow and then look back at me.  But this morning she was running and playing in the snow. She still needed short times outside but she seems to love playing in the snow. Lucy on the other hand LOVES the snow and playing in it. She is SUPER happy to burrow with her noise and then flip the snow up. It's quiet funny to watch.

At the end of the snow fall we ended up with 5 inches. That's a LOT of snow for our location. I love that we got that much snow... I know I prayed hard for it (along with a few others). The weather men are saying that tonight we might get a touch more... but not to expect much since this round will go farther north. I would love nothing more than to have it dip south and dump some more snow on us!!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Thursday, January 6, 2011
Every teacher's dream is a snow day, and the weather men are calling for one here!! I am so excited. I can't wait to see how Lucy and Bailey act in the snow. And the pictures... ahhh... so fun.

Well the first week back is almost over... just one more day. It's been a long week. I find it funny how two weeks off has really thrown a wrinch in everything. I am so tired, and I can't seem to get up on time. Good news... once I'm in the classroom it's all over- I love by kinders SO much that they seem to energize me. Those little smiling faces are so wonderful. To say I love what I do is an understatement...

AND I found out today that I was able to transfer to a new grad school and program!! YEA me! I am so excited... it's all online and each class is 5 weeks! Ah I am so excited... about the only thing that could make life better would be to make the DT over at mypinkstamper.com.

I hope that everyone has had as wonderful of a week as I have.

Because she believes in me...

Sunday, January 2, 2011
Today's post is about believing in someone, and how that believing is pushing me to do something. I love to scrapbook but in the last few years I haven't allowed myself to scrapbook. Not so much allowed but gosh not sure how to explain the hiatus. Anyway, I have been slowly taking back the things that make me smile. Baby steps....baby steps. I've been working on some Disney photos from years ago that I had printed almost as long ago. Over the break, I've created about 8 pages and I have spent hours on Youtube learning all the uber cool things that my Cricut Expression and Gypsy and reading some of my favorite blogs. That is when I saw it... My Pink Stamper's DT call. She is one of my FAVORITE souces for Cricut information... and being someone who LOVES pink it's a match made in heaven ;)

Anyway, Anna Claire immeditally said that I HAD to put my name in the hat. So with her holding my hand, that is what I am doing... throwing my project out there to be part of the call. Because she believes that there is no better scrapper in the world than her mommy.

My Pink Stamper Challenge:

Make a card, scrapbook page, or other Cricut project with your favorite cartridge using my favorite colors......

Pink
Green
Brown
(other optional color of your choice)

So there are the rules... and here is my project.

The colors are a bit brighter in real life. And here is a close up of the castle.

Receipe:

Cricut Cartridges: Printing Press, Once upon a Princess
Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye
Punches: EK Success Border Punch
Cardstock: Hobby Lobby "Kraft"

So there it is... Thank you so much baby girl for believing in me! I love you!

Trying new things

Saturday, January 1, 2011
Today I am working on this blog format. I hate it when something appears to get the best of me... like this blog layout. I found the most BEAUTIFUL blog backgrounds and headers at shabby blog.com but I can not get them to work right. I am hoping that something is not appearing right and that really things are ok.

I am also trying to do better with my follow through. I think that the problem that I have with the kids minding me when they have friends over, is because I give them WAY too many chances and WAY too many last chances. But I just hate to send home the neighbor kids... but after two weeks of it- I sent the neighbor kid home!! Score one for being the meanest mommy on the block! I bet they listen to me now ;)
