The Spot Creative Challenge it's a sketch thing

Tuesday, October 27, 2020

Hey y'all!! Can you believe that Halloween is THIS week!?!?! I'm dying. My pre k kiddos are flipping out and can't talk about anything but what they are dressing up as. I wanted to create a card that captured the energy and fun of my students.

I decided to use the cute hippo and the saying from Hippo Happiness. I decided to use the Playing with Patterns paper from the Pattern Play suite (which is currently on sale until October 31). My cardstock colors are Bumble Bee, Night of Navy, and Purple Posey.

Details for today's card

Let's take a closer look.

From this angle, you can see that the greeting tag is layered over a velum tag. I love the look of layers in a card. I also used the Playing with Patterns Resin dots and the stars are from All the Trimmings embellishment pack. I stamped the hippo in Highland Heather ink that I had stamped off one time. Then I stamped Gorgeous Grape over it. The face is Tuxedo Black.

Look at that face! I layered the hippo onto 2 circle punches. One is Whisper White and the other is Bumble Bee. A Stampin' Write marker in Black to add a few hand drawn lines and some dimensionals to raise the circles.

I hope that you are inspired by this sketch and my card. Hop on over to The Spot Creative challenge to see more inspiration AND to see last week's winners.

The Spot Creative Challenge #133 It's a color challenge!

Tuesday, October 20, 2020
Hey Y'all!
Today the team at The Spot is bringing you a color challenge. These are quickly becoming my favorite!

I love this color combo. It says manly and fall.  Of course I had to pull out a set that hasn't seen much ink, Lovely You. It's a punch bundle.  I used some DSP, made my own DSP, and layered several die cuts/ punches for this card.

So I fell in love with this stamp set because of the sentiments but the addition of these floral elements really makes this a great set to add to a starter kit. I added in the butterfly and greeting from the Butterfly Gala stamp set. I think that they worked well together.  Let's take a closer look at today's card.

Details for today's card

Let's take a closer look at the area that holds the greeting. I layered 4 different die cuts/ punches to make this area. The bottom layer is Rich Razzleberry. Then a layer of vellum. Then Pretty Peacock that I used a foam brayer and one of the stencils to add some "texture" too. The top layer is whisper white cardstock with Pumpkin Pie ink. I added a few Pumpkin Pie colored sequins to add some sparkle and some Embroidered Ribbon to finish off the card.

I hope that today's project inspired you to pull out some ink and create! Head over to The Spot and check out what the rest of the team did!

The Spot Creative Challenge- Clean and Simple Fall

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

Hey y'all!
This week we are creating projects around the theme of clean and simple fall. The weather here doesn't really feel very fall. With Hurricane Delta coming in, the weather was warm and humid- definitely not fall feeling.  Another thing I noticed when I started working on this challenge is that I don't own many "fall" stamp sets. I mean there are some really great sets, I just don't own them. I decided to pull out the stamps called A Banner Year to make today's card.

Let’s take a look at my card.

Details for today's card

I based my color scheme on the Plaid Tidings paper. I used Pretty Peacock, Terracotta Tile, and Bumblebee.

I really love the simplicity of this card and how quickly it can be created. I hope that you are inspired to create a fall card for our challenge. Check out the other designers at The Spot Creative Challenge for more ideas!!

OSAT- Tricks and Treats

Thursday, October 8, 2020
Hey y'all!
I can't wait for you to see what I did with this month's theme. Halloween has always been a fun time in our family. I remember when I was pregnant with Anna Claire that I couldn't wait until she was born so that we could trick or treat. AND I almost had a halloween baby. That little stinker was set on coming early, only she held off until November 3. Her first halloween she was a pumpkin. And the inspiration for today's projects.

See SOOOOO cute!! Let's take a closer look....

Details for today's card

Here is the card. I used one of my favorite sets from last year. It's the Harvest Hello set. I also used the Plaid Tidings designer series paper.  I stamped the phrase in Bumble Bee ink.

Now let's look at the vellum pumpkin treat box. I used the Mini Curvy Keepsake box, vellum, and a few blends. I LOVE it!!

After making the cute little pumpkin box, I decided to keep going. I made two more boxes with some of the Plaid Tidings paper and some pieces from the Halloween suite.

I really hope that you were inspired today. It's been hard during this season of 'Rona to find joy and inspiration. But working on these projects today really made me smile.

Keep on hopping...

The Spot Creative Challenge #131- Case the designer

Tuesday, October 6, 2020

Hey Y'all! Today I am sharing my CASE of Sara Levin. The card I picked just "spoke" to me. There are so many things that I loved about this card.... the colors, the bold simplicity, and the paper! I really didn't change much in making this card. There were a few items that I didn't have (like the ribbon) so I had to make changes.

This is Sara's card. I love everything about it!! The colors, the cut out letters, the ribbon, and the touch of bling! It is simply perfect.  Now here is my take on it. I did have to change a few things but y'all!!

For my version I used the same color scheme, papers, and general layout. I changed the shape of the greeting tag, the words, and the ribbon. I can not tell you how much I love the playful alphabet!! The letters are perfect for cards like this and the "window" effect is very cool. Let's take a closer look.

Details for today's card

This is a top folding card. I layered Real Red under the paper from the Plaid Tiding paper pack. Then I used the largest of the square-ish shape from the Hippo and Friends die set to cut both a real red piece and a whisper white piece. I cut my letters from the whisper white piece and layered it over the real red. I used Momento ink to stamp the word "heartfelt". I added the ribbon and some "bling". I hope that you hop over to The Spot to see the other recreations of Sara's work!

Positive Inkers Blog hop Non Traditional Christmas

Thursday, October 1, 2020

Hey Y'all!
I am so excited to bring you today’s card. Our team of bloggers decided to make Christmas cards using not traditional red and green. I got so excited about this idea that I made a not traditional theme too. I decided to go with an ocean/ tropical theme. In the last few years Stampin’Up has given us a tropical themed holiday set. This year that set was missing.

This is my card. I had so much fun making it. I giggled and smiled the whole time. I hope that it makes you smile too!!

Details for today's card

Let’s talk about this card. It’s a top fold card. I used Costal Cabana and Bermuda Bay as my main color scheme. I love the papers in this suite. The colors are gorgeous. I added a little Santa hat stamped in Poppy Parade for the finishing holiday touch!!
Please check out the other Positive Inkers....
