Tuesday's with The Spot

Tuesday, March 16, 2021
Hey y'all!

Today the team over at The Spot are all CASING the fabulous Dena Renko! She blogs and has a YouTube channel under the name The Creativity Cave. Now in true Dena style... get your stampin' lips on and let's craft!

Dena has been crafting and blogging for a while now and has LOTS of great projects to pick from. I went WAY back to 2014 for my card. I had saved it years ago and knew it was the card I wanted to CASE. Let's take a look at the original.

Here is what jumped out at me. I love the black and white pattern paper as an anchor for the flower image. But the deal sealer for me was the dots in the background. I believe it was an embossing folder, but so easy to recreate with a circle punch!  Now let's take a look at my version.

Details for today's card

I pulled the dot idea, the black and white paper, AND the Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay colors from the flower. I decided to punch up the circle idea by using a larger circle punch and using a darker paper placed on the lighter. I LOVE how beachy and summery this card is! That super cute pineapple is from the Cute Fruit set. It's the set that has all the cute faces you could add to the fruit. I hat it on my desk to use the faces with the new Ice Cream set. I knew that the pineapples would fit the feel of the card I wanted to make.

I hope that you have been inspired, I know I was! Click on the image below and check out what the rest of the team created!

Tuesday's with the Spot- photo inspiration challeng

Tuesday, March 2, 2021
Hey Y'all!
It's Tuesday's with The Spot! This week we are looking at a photo and gaining inspiration.

This really is a beautiful photograph and look at all those colors to work with! Really there is a TON of inspiration in this photo. I decided to let the colors be my inspiration for this card.

I have been wanting to work with this stamp set for MONTHS but it always takes a back seat to some other project I have going on. I am in LOVE with how this turned out. It really is a happy hello. Let's dive into the card...

Details for today's card

My card base is Crumb Cake. Then we have a layer of Terracotta Tile and the top layer of Basic White. I used so many colors on this card: Petal Pink, Terracotta Tile, So Saffron, Bumblee, Mint Macaron, Old Olive, Just Jade, Poppy Parade, and Cinnamon Cider.

Let me share a trick, for the So Saffron, Bumblebee circle I stamped with both sides of the photopolymer stamp! Super fun way to get a solid shape to go behind the polka dot one. The stronger colors like Poppy Parade and Old Olive I saved for the smallest stamps. I added a gold metal ring from the Forever Greenery suite to help ground my sentiment. And finished my card with Just Jade enamel dots.

For the sentiment, I stamped the word happy in Versamark ink and embossed it in white. I made a little flag to hold the word "hello" and stamped it in Terracotta Tile. I really like the way they play against each other.

I hope that you are inspired to create a long with us this week! Don't forget to link up over at www.thespotcreativechallenge.com! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Spring Chicks with the Positive Inkers team

Monday, March 1, 2021
Hey Y'all!

Happy March... Yesterday we our first round of potentially severe weather. Fortunately all is well but man did March come in like a lion! After historic 20 inch snows here, I didn't want to deal with tornadoes.

I want to pause for a second before I get to my project for today. If you have followed me for any period of time, you probably have heard me talk about mental health and how important it is to reach out and ask for help. You might even think I have it all together... but I don't. The last 2 weeks have been exceedingly hard for me. We are approaching 1 year since Covid shut down schools, 20 inches of snow brought more isolation, a busted pipe, and a heath scare were just too much. I shut down. I reached that place where I just couldn't. Nothing was bringing me joy, no new creations meant nothing to share here or on my Social Media. I became a turtle. I am so blessed to have a husband and circle of friends who can see through the mask. They saw me. They know me and they supported me while I figured it out. With the help of my amazing therapist this bought of depression or mood was very short lived. I feel blessed. And that is why I am including this story here. My blog hops bring in people from all over the world. And I'm here to tell you that you matter!! You are important, and beautiful, and a lot stronger than you ever imagined.

Today's card came from that place of supporting and being supported. This "Hey Chick" card is one of several I made to mail out. Just a simple "hey I'm here" kind of message. I challenge you to do the same. Reach out to that friend who has put off spending time with friends. Reach out to that family member who has had to quarantine.

There is something that feels so comforting and "homey" about buffalo check! So that became the backdrop to my card.

Details for today's card

Let's dive in...

This card started with a Very Vanilla cardbase. I am using Poppy Parade and Crumb Cake as the major colors to this card with a little Cinnamon Cider thrown in. The chicks on the Crumb Cake piece are stamped in Cinnamon Cider, while the chicks that are die cut were stamped and colored on Basic White. I used the Buffalo Check stamp to stamp out the Poppy Parade layer and both stamped layers are matted in Poppy Parade. I used the Black and white ribbon from the Pet suite for this card.

Oh one thing I did was cut off the party hat on the little egg chick. If you didn't know that it was there, I really don't feel like you see where it was cut from.

I mean it's a little wonky but still super cute! I did make several of these cards to send out as happy mail. I hope that you have been inspired to make your own just because cards to send this week. If you do, please come back and comment that you sent happy mail! I'd love to know.

Now let's see what the rest of the amazing team did for our hop.
