Crafty Challenge In Color Blog Hop

Wednesday, May 26, 2021
Hey y'all!!

I'm Karen and I'm so glad that you hopped over to my blog. Today I am sharing a new project with the 2021-2023 In Colors. If you don't know about In Colors, they are 5 colors that stay with us for 2 calendar years and then retire. This year's colors are beautiful!

See, aren't they beautiful?!? I think Pale Papaya is going to be my favorite! At first I wasn't at all sure about these colors and knew I needed to get them in my hands and play with them. Once they were here and I could stamp with the inks and see the ribbons, I have to admit that once again Stampin' Up! has knocked it out of the ball park with these colors.

Squeal... here is my card. Y'all I LOVE Soft Succulent with Fresh Freesia! The background of this card was made with the blending brushes and one of the new stencils.  I love how this one looks like the scales on a mermaid's tale.

Details for today's card

This is a top fold card made from Fresh Freesia. Then I layered Basic White that I used Polished Pink, Soft Succulent, and Fresh Freesia with the stencil. I layered Soft Succulent on top of the Basic White and tied some of the YUMMY new In Color ribbon on the right side. I did stamp the small shell in Soft Succulent on to the layer before adding it to my card. I added a layer of vellum and a Fresh Freesia circle under my mermaid.

I am in LOVE with how this card turned out. The finishing touch for my card is some of the In Color gems in Soft Succulent.

Make sure you check out the other projects in our hop! They are beautiful and inspiring.

OSAT! Something old and something new... it's a mash up!

Thursday, May 13, 2021
Hey Y'all!

I am so excited about today's blog hop! Today we are pairing some thing new with something that is returning in the New Annual Catalog. I decided to pair the new Pirates & Mermaids with the returning Friends are like Seashells.

I made a card and tag set for this month's blog hop. Not a single photo that I took equaled the amazingness of the originals! There is SO much in this card. When I showed it to Thomas (aka the Hubs) he just looked at me. I was inspired by a card in the new catalog on page 27. There is just something about the Crumb Cake and Soft Succulent color combination with the pops of Fresh Freesia. This card is layer on layer on layer, and I patterned the tag after all the layers.

Let's dive into the details of these projects. Card first!

Details for today's card

I started with a base of Crumb Cake cardstock. I added a layer of Basic White that I stamped with the Birch background stamp in Sahara Sand with the little dots from Friends are Like Seashells set stamped in Soft Succulent. I die cut the large seaweed and shells from Soft Succulent. The shells were stamped in Sahara Sand. I decided to add 3 star fish images to the mix.

I love this mermaid from the Pirates and Mermaids stamp set. I stamped the mermaid with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored her with Stampin' Blends. After she was colored, I fussy cut her out and layered her into the mix of shells and seaweed.

To finish out this card, I added a sentiment stamped on Fresh Freesia and some of the Pastel Pearls. The message says "you are unique and completely amazing". I think that fits this beautiful mermaid card. Now let's talk about the tag!

This little pirate is just so stinkin cute! I started by die cutting several tags in different colors that matched my card. For the largest tag from the Tailor Made Tags dies, I used Basic White as the base and stamped seaweed in Soft Succulent. The next layer is cut from Soft Succulent and has some of the start fish added to the layer. The next tag is cut from Fresh Freesia and has the little treasure chests stamped on it. The top tag is cut from Basic White and stamped with a starfish in Sahara Sand. The "happy birthday" is stamped in Fresh Freesia (it's in the Art Gallery stamp set). I stamped the pirate in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored him with Stampin' Blends. I also stamped the phrase "ahoy there, matey" in Soft Succulent.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the amazing projects being shared in our hop (list below). Don't forget to tag me(#alittlekinderstamps) in your social media posts so I can see your projects that were inspired by todays hop!

Tuesday at the Spot!

Tuesday, May 11, 2021
Hey y'all!
Today we are throwing down a color challenge over at The Spot! My exact words when I saw this color combo was "this is going to be interesting".

Now y'all Magenta Madness and Grannie Apple Green are just life! They are happy and cheery and everything that gives me joy. Fresh Freesia, um- how do I say this, it's a little bit of a weird color. It's purple for sure but it's also not. I haven't figured it out yet. So when I saw it paired with the live giving color combo of Magenta Madness and Grannie Apple Green, I just didn't know.

Here is my card and I got to say that I'm loving the Fresh Freesia in this card! I did add the black and white stripe to help break the color combination.

Details for today's card

Let's talk about this card. For the Magenta Madness part, I used new Animal Print Embossing Folder to add texture. Not to mention that I wanted to try out this new folder. The Grannie Apple Green part is embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D folder. I love this folder, it was my second favorite to the newly retired Subtle folder (sniff sniff, I miss that one). The circle is the largest of the Layering Circles dies. I used the Hand Penned Petals stamp set and the matching dies on this car. I used Stampin' Blends in the colors of our challenge to color my flowers. The thanks is stamped in Magenta Madness. I added a line around the circle die with the Fresh Freesia Stampin' Marker. I did not add any bling to this card. I wasn't sure how it would work with all the different textures.

My goal today is to get you to play along with out challenge! Are you ready?? Then let's go!! All the details on how to be part of the challenge are over at The Spot Creative Challenge. When you post your creation on Social Media add the hashtag #alittlekinderstamps so that I can find your creation!

See you next week for another great challenge!
