Tuesday at The Spot! Blending Brushes, sponge daubers, and sponges oh my!

Tuesday, April 27, 2021

Hey y'all!
Welcome to Tuesday at The Spot! This week I am throwing down a challenge to grab your blending brushes, sponge daubers, or sponges and let's get stamping. I grabbed one of the Stampin' Up! stencils from the ___ set. I used the polka dot one for my card but this set has 4 different stencils in it. I grabbed my brand new Fresh Freesia stamp pad and a blending brush and the new Hand Penned Stamp set. This one is beautiful. I also made a process video for the card I am sharing. I'll link it at the end.

Let's take a look at today's card and then dive into the details!

This is NOT my normal style, but I love how this card turned out!  I used the blending brushes and one of the stencils (the polka dot one). I used Fresh Freesia ink for my blending and then stamped the largest image in the Hand Penned Petals randomly on the front of the card.

Details for today's card

I used the new tag dies (Tailored Made Tags), the new Hand Penned Petals stamp set, Fresh Freesia (new In Color) paper, Stampin' Blends, and ink, Soft Succulent (new In Color) paper and Stampin Blends, and Evening Evergreen (new In Color) paper.

I loved making this card. It was fun to break out of my "normal". Now that you have some inspiration, I challenge you to make a card or project using a blending technique and post it over at The Spot!

Parting is such sweet sorrow

Saturday, April 24, 2021
Hey y'all!

Today I'm sharing some final ideas using the 2019-2021 In Colors. These colors are retiring on May 3. To be really honest, I am devastated that we are loosing Seaside Spray. This is the perfect blue to use for shadows when coloring. It's a very soothing blue that is simply stunning with Night of Navy. When we first got to see this set of colors, I was slow to warm up to them. Now I am so sad to see them leave us.

I am going to share two cards with you. If you look closely, you just might see some new Annual Catalog items as well. Here are today's cards:

And a shaker card:

Details for today's card

Let's talk about the first card. It's a mini slim line card. It focuses on the retiring Seaside Spray. The black and white paper is the .... from the January to June Mini catalog. The beautiful flower paper was part of Sale-a-bration.

I used the April Sheet Load of Cards sketch for this card. The saying is from the Succulent set in the old and new annual catalog. To make my pearls match, I used dark Seaside Spray blends to color them.

This next card has a little sneak peak of a new die set. I made a faker shaker in the heart window. I filled it with the retiring Woven Threads sequins.

I really am sad to see Seaside Spray leaving the color line up. I loved it so much. I hope that these projects inspired you to create something using Seaside Spray. When you do make sure to use the #alittlekindercreates to tag me. I want to see your creations!

Tuesday with The Spot! Sketch challenge

Tuesday, April 13, 2021

Hey y'all!!
This week is breaking out the BEAUTIFUL weather. Warm but breezy. It's literally perfect. I hope that it's great weather where you are too. I love this time of year because it's when all the flowers are being planted or blooming. Color popping up EVERYWHERE! Today's card is a pop of spring and flowers and a little sneak peak!

Details for today's card

Today I'm playing around with a brand new Hand Penned Floral set that will be coming in May. I started by die cutting the large floral image. I colored it with Highland Heather, Soft Succulent, and Pale Papaya. The cardstock layers from back to front are Just Jade, Soft Sea Foam, Blushing Bride, then the BEAUTIFUL DSP, and the rectangle is Pale Papaya. The two flags are 1 inch and 1/2 inch. I also used some of the stunning new 2021-2023 In Color gems in the Fresh Freesia color.

The stamped greeting is actually stamped in one of the new In Colors called Evening Evergreen. It's a STUNNING dark green. The Pale Papaya rectangle was die cut using the Stitched Rectangle dies.

I really LOVE how this card came together. The sketch was perfect for this set of products. I hope that you are inspired to play along with us this week! For all the details AND more inspiration head over to The Spot Challenge.

Color Challenge with The Spot

Tuesday, April 6, 2021
Hey y'all!
Happy Tuesday. Today I'm sharing a card I made for this week's challenge over at The Spot. This week we are throwing down a color challenge.

These colors scream spring! I love the different shades of green with the brightness of Calypso Coral and the softness of Highland Heather. Let's look at my card.

I have a card base of Highland Heather. I used Highland Heather with a stencil to create the circle background. Then I layered pattern papers from the Flowering Cactus Product Medley. I also used the embellishments from the product medley.

Details for today's card

Today's card is a side folding standard card. The square that creates my focal area is 3.75"x3.75" and is cut from paper in the Flowering Cactus Product Medley. I used a 1" strip of black and white pattern paper to create a banner that goes across the card and grounds the sentiment. The stamp set is retiring at the end of the month but is honestly one of my favorites!! It's the million dollar set that Ronda Wade inspired. I used the faith bigger than fear message on the outside and you got this on the inside. The finishing touches are the felt flowers from the Flowering Cactus product medley.

I hope that you will play along this week. This really is a fun color combination! Click on the image below to see what the rest of the team created!
