My road to here

Sunday, May 21, 2017
Hey y'all!
It's hard to believe that just a few years ago right now I was searching for a way to decrease the size of my liver and be healthier. I had just been given the news that my liver was enlarged and was indeed a big part of the reason that I was struggling to control my IBS. I was deviated! And the worst part was that there really was no hope of getting rid of the pain, unless I wanted to go the narcotics route.

I remember crying a lot. I remember thinking that there had to be a way to be healthy. There just had to be. So I looked into alternative health methods. Eastern medicine or old world medicines. And I found 2 things that helped me more that I could ever know what possible. 1) acupuncture.... yep tiny needs in my ears, arms, feet and hands. But the pain slowly started to back down. 2) essential oils... the life blood of plants. I will never forget the first IBS attack that I countered with peppermint oil. My body responded to it better than it had anything else I had tried. Am I claiming that peppermint oil cured me? NOT at all! I still have IBS. I still have attacks but now I have something that soothes my attacks. As I slowly started removing the toxic parts of my life I noticed small changes in me. Which pushed me on to learn more. I read every book and desk reference I could get my hands on. I needed to take back control of me, my life, and my health.

So where is here? Here is a great place to be. In the last days of the school year I have been purging and getting rid of the things I won't need next year. I've been using my oils to support all types of body systems. And crossfit has made me stronger than I could have EVER imagined! This week I want to talk/ share about the basics of essential oils. Some posts will be me talking and some will have originated at the Young Living blog. So strap in I have a great week planned.

You won't regret this! The Everyday Oils

Sunday, March 15, 2015
Not so very long ago, I was diagnosed with an enlarged liver. It seemed that EVERY over the counter medicine that I took was on my "can't have it" list. Or (and even better in my mind) they were ok to take but a side effect was kidney issues. Really??? I was stumped. My MD suggested that I start looking into eastern medicine to manage my problems. So I did. And long story cut a little short, that lead me to essential oils. I started with peppermint. And then added lavender... then a friend suggested that I look into the Young Living membership. I was like "yea right, I don't do home parties. been there, done that. epic fail". But she assured me that I wasn't doing home parties. So I asked what the deal was, and here is what I was told. " you can keep buying oils one at a time and that is fine but if you think you might ever want to diffuse the oils you need to really think about the starter kit." Diffuse oils? really? as if! Peppermint and lavender were my goto oils. I used them for everything and I was thinking "no way will I need to diffuse them!"

Then I noticed my friend posting this "everyday essential oil kit" and talking about the uses for the oils and I was like "we could use that!" So I called her and said "um you know that kit you have on Facebook, can you tell me more about it?" And she did. Then she blew my mind. "Did you know that you can get the kit, a diffuser, and the discount all for about $50 more than just the everyday oils?" Oh gosh I thought, here it comes.... home party sales! But I was wrong, and guess what? I still don't do home parties! But I am a Young Life member and distributor, and I love blowing people's minds and helping them live a healthy life.

If I had had half of a brain I would have realized what my friend was telling me. She wasn't trying to pry extra money from my hand, and she wasn't really trying to turn me into a sale... really she already had me buying oils through her. What she was trying to give me was a gift, a gift I wish that I had been smart enough to take. (Smacks head like  I should have had a v8- giggle)

I get it... not sold yet. Not sure how these oils could fit into your life?

Feast your eyes on this....

9 oils, with hundreds of everyday uses! What do you think? See something that you think "um yea I need that in my life". Were not trying to take your money or ask you to throw it down the toilet. These work! Yea, baby do these work! I'm not sure you are quite ready for the changes that these oils will bring to you life. Rug rash on the knees from deep cleaning... a drop of lavender. Upset tummy from the spicy Thai food that you had to have... peppermint on the belly or a drop in water. Snoring... valor on the toes. Stinky dogs... purification and distilled water in a spray bottle. And I could go on and on. My point is I made a mistake. I waited. I thought yea right not me brother! Don't do what I did... don't wait! I know you are not going to regret this for a second! Click here to get started.

Oh and by the way, the starter kit comes with the everyday oils, a bonus bottle of citrus fresh, and a diffuser! All for $150! BOOM... mind blown! your welcome!

An Oily Adventure

Friday, January 2, 2015
Howdy Y'all!
I can not believe that today is January2! Hello! Really 2015!?! Can I get a hover board and self tying shoes please? The self tying shoes for my kinders; hover board for me! I can not believe the year 2014. Talk about ups and downs! Changing schools/ districts, health issues, vacations that dreams are made of... lots of great and horrible stuff all mixed together.

I love that 2014 also showed me something that would change me forever. The thing that I am going to bring to this blog is my adventure in essential oils. I'm not sure how that is going to work with my lack of blogging but my greatest hope is that it actually give me more to share.

Back in Feb 2014 we learned that my liver was/is enlarged. This is due to having no gallbladder and my liver has to work harder. I also have IBS. I started to search for a way to help the IBS without making my liver worse. I also learned things like certain medications I used for daily issues like headache or knee pain were actually hurting my liver. Not good. So my search started.

That search took me to a side of medicine that most people I knew though was "crazy". I started using acupuncture to help with the constant pain. But that really didn't help my IBS issues so I did some more looking and learning. And my answer was to purchase peppermint "pills". Oh my were they expensive but they worked. Then a friend mentioned that I could use peppermint essential oil to do the same thing! WHAT? really, I can use one or two drops of something sounded too good to be true. But I've always wondered what happens to those capsules when you take them. I mean they look and feel like plastic, could they be hurting my liver? So I got my first bottle of peppermint oil.

I have since learned that peppermint essential oil can be used for LOTS of things... help with headaches, fever, pain. And a whole new world opened up for me. At first I was a bit skeptical that this thing (essential oils) could really help me long term. That was this summer, late July to be exact, and here I sit on January 2, 2015 and it STILL helps. AND I have expanded my oily medicine cabinet. I have to say now (and I'll repeat it often) the things I have/ and will post in my blog as I am sharing essential oils with you have not been evaluated by the FDA. Please understand that I am just educating not trying to diagnose medical conditions and you should always consult with a medical professional when it comes to you and your families health.

Here is a fact sheet on Peppermint oil:

I am working on setting up some EO (essential oil) pages here on my blog. I also want to share with you about specific oils. I get much of my information from two different books. The first is the Essential Oil Pocket Reference (EOPR) and the second is the Reference Guide for Essential Oils (RGEO). Both books have LOTS of great information about essential oils. The information on my blog will always be able Young Living oils. These are my favorite and a brand that I feel that I can support for many reasons, I promise to do a look into Young Living something this spring.

So that is a little intro into the oily adventure that I am on.  I hope that you learn something along the way! I know I am...

new year, new dreams, new what?

Thursday, January 1, 2015
Hey y'all I want to let you in on a little secret! Ok not so little but here's the deal, I am the kind of person that is highly competitive, more than anything, I compete with myself. I expect more out of myself than anyone has ever expected of me. (it's true... don't give me a 99% on something! I'll never forget it, just ask me about my 7th grade AR history paper sometime) It’s great because I can motivate myself to new heights if I’m passionate but I also disappoint myself regularly. I’m sure many of you can relate. Speaking to the women, I know you guys expect yourselves to be able to do it all; push, push push, get it done and never let them see you sweat. Sound familiar? Hey men, I bet you guys expect to be able to live your life and never come across as weak. I bet you think the women in your life expect that out of you, too. Guess what? Not realistic. It is quite literally impossible. So, I want to challenge us to open up, get a little bit vulnerable, push back any kind of shame we carry around about not being good enough and set some goals to improve ourselves. They don’t all have to be BHAG’s (big hairy audacious goals). They can be little habits, little pushes outside of that comfort zone.
With the new year, comes a fresh slate. It also comes with some pressure. I want to take the pressure out of New Year’s Resolutions, instead set goals or pick a one word for the year and attach a sent to it. Did you know that the power of scent is the most powerful of any of your senses to drive behavior? I would have thought sound or taste (hey, i love music and I love to eat, baby).Nope, It’s smell. Really? yep think about it...A smell can instantly put you in another place and time in your life. The smell of the hospital room where your kids were born, the smell of your mom’s perfume, the smell of the house where you grew up. It governs how you feel and in turn, how you behave.
So try this... pick a smell for your goal (hint the picture below gives you some suggestions) and diffuse that smell every time you are working that goal. Here's an example, this blog... yep I've said it "epic fail". I want to post, I try to post, but well {insert epic fail here}. Now in 2015 I want to work on posting more, so here is the deal. I picked the EO called Joy and I am diffusing it. Every time I blog I will diffuse it until the point that when I smell that smell I think "yippee it's time to blog"! Will it happen? I think so!

Let's put this out there too... You are good enough and worthy of a better self. Even if you don’t have all your crap together (news flash, none of us do). Even if the tape that plays in your head tells you you aren’t worth it. Let the smell help you reset that tape (personally, I'm ready for mine to be evicted!) I believe you are worth it, so that’s one and that’s enough. Just do it.

flash sale! December 31 only

Wednesday, December 31, 2014
Have you heard of this essential oil craze and wondered what it is all about? I use Young Living essential oils and they have been life changing! I'm very picky about my oils and where they come from and I believe that Young Living has really created the best oils out there. Young Living is the oldest essential oil producer and it also leads the world in essential oils. On top of that they own their own farms so I know where they come from. I wish I could show you all the positive effects they have had on my family. My little guy couldn't sleep a entire night without waking up, then i found essential oils. Lavender baby mixed with a carrier oil (that just makes the essential oil a little less strong) and he now sleeps all night! Let's talk classrooms! Stomach yuckies, colds, and of course the flu... not in my room (ok ok yea I have some but not like others) why? Thieves!! I'll post more about Thieves I promise but for now know that this germ busting oil is AMAZING!! It kept the sickness at bay at school, and protected me from what ever was going around right before Christmas. So here's the deal, I love these oils... LOVE them! And I want people to get off the fence and try them. I want people to know that you don't have to put just chemicals into and on your body, that nature (from my belief God) intended for us to use plants life blood (essential oils) to heal our bodies! We are fearfully and wonderfully made... just like all things on this planet. So it would make total sense that they would work together right? So here is a deal that my YL (Young Living) team came up with (we are called the Lemon Droppers- AWESOME right!?!?)...
1. if you purchase a kit I will add $20 to your account to purchase more oils later on!
2. If you are an existing member of mine and you purchase 100pv or more of product I will add $10 to your account.
Offers only valid through December 31st (that's today folks!)!

How do you do this.... text me (501 213 8076) and I'll call you back. Or email me keday56@gmail.com and I will get you set up!

Keeping it real

Tuesday, December 30, 2014
Ok y'all I suck as a blogger! No really I do! I make all these plans. Mark squares in my planner. And the square goes slipping by! I have SO much to share and yet I can't seem to get it posted! So I am trying something new. Fingers crossed! And I apologize up front if I become an epic fail. lol!

Let's see... where to start. Well I LOVE love LOVE my new school! I love my little ones this year! I have some tough cookies but I love them! My tiny little classroom is an adjustment, as is not having the technology that I used to have, but a 5 minute commute and being right around the corner from my daughters school is a DREAM.

I miss creating things for my kids to use. I just haven't had the time... oh ok keepin' it real here... I have not managed my time well. There I said it! LOL! What I have done this year is lesson plan, lesson plan, lesson plan, and spend time with my kids! Here is the deal... new district new lesson plan format. And WOW is it a lot. Like hours and hours a lot. But here is the super cool thing that makes it all worth while. I get to pick my daughter up from school! Yep, it's awesome to have a reason to leave work at a certain time and be able to hang out with my kid! Now here is the hard part, I love spending time with my kids and I am horrible at time management so blog gets ignored as well my time to create.

Let's see what else, oh yea. If you follow my blog you know that I suffer from IBS and that this year I was diagnosed with an enlarged liver. It's been a rough year health wise for me. And we've made a lot of decisions about our family when it comes to what we doing to be healthy. I promise to get into that more later, but for now I want to say that I have come off all medications for both issues and am using essential oils and other holistic approaches to treat my issues. I plan to add some information about essential oils and Young Living (the company that I purchase my oils from) and the Lemon Droppers (the Young Living team that I am part of). But in the mean time if you have questions about essential oils please email me (keday56@gmail.com). I LOVE to share how my life has changed!

Now some fun stuff. We marked two items off our bucket list this fall. The first was to see the Eastern  Caribbean islands of St. Martin, St kits, Puerto Rico and Haiti. We took a cruise over Thanksgiving and I LOVED it! Yep lots of love happening right now! The eastern caribbean is stunning but not what I had imagined. I could easily go back to any of the places we went. Then for Christmas, my family went to Disney. I have always wanted to be at Disney on Christmas Day. We did that! I got to see Elsa "ice" the castle and it snow on Main Street. I have been very blessed this year.

That would be me and the mister. We were on our cruise over thanksgiving. He is pretty wonderful! I'm blessed to have him in my life!

And me and the kids hanging out on the ship! Love these two more than words can say!
