More Quick Cards

Friday, March 27, 2020
Hey y'all! I promised that the next few blog posts would be quick cards. So sticking with that theme, here is todays card.

Details for today's card

Using the same idea that DSP (Designer Series Paper) makes amazing cards, this card is using a paper from the Bird Balled Suite. I love these bird cages!! Add a tag with a large greeting stamp and you have a quick and easy card.

This card is a top fold card.  I used the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon and some basic rhinestones to add a little flair to this card.

Quick cards using Seriously the Best stamp set

Wednesday, March 25, 2020
Hey Y'all! Over the next few days I am going to share a series of cards I made to be able to send out quickly. I know lots of people who are wanting to use their card making to fill people's mailboxes with smiles. These cards will all be super quick and easy to reproduce quickly.

I love being able to send cards for absolutely no reason at all. Today I am going to share my favorite quick card tip! DSP- yep it is truly that simple! Grab a 12x12 sheet of Designer Series Paper (also called DSP) and cut it in to 3 4"x12" strips. Then cut those to in to 4" by 5.25" rectangles. You will be left with a small piece at the end of each of your 4"x 12" strips. I like to use those in a different way. I'll share that quick card with you later on. You can cut 8 card fronts out of one piece of DSP. I layer these patterned card fronts onto Thick Whisper White cardstock for stability (ok so I'm gonna tell you, you can use the regular Whisper White cardstock but y'all it's gonna feel cheep. Just trust me on this card bases need to be Thick Whisper White period. Then end).

Details for today's card

  • Card base- Thick Whisper White side fold card
  • Bird Ballad DSP cut to 4"x 5.25"
  • Stitched So Sweetly dies
  • The greeting Hello Friend is from the Seriously The Best stamp set and project kit
  • Champagne Rhinestones or sequins  and ribbons complete the cards.

Under construction.... learning to rebrand

Thursday, March 19, 2020
Hey y'all!! I bet you have noticed some things are slowly changing around here. I have wanted to rebrand for awhile but let's be honest, I really lack the skills and the time to do everything the way I wanted them to be. This week is Spring Break here and since we are on Covid-lock down, I have had some time to learn. I am moving my blog in a different direction style wise. No longer am I going to have bright in your face bold colors. I am moving to a calming, beach-ish color scheme. Light blues and light browns on a clean white background is my direction. For now, I have a new logo and blog header.
My maiden name is Bird. Long story short, I am embracing that image of a bird as part of me. I love this watercolor bird image so much. It's my color scheme and is just joyful to me. Please hang with me, while I learn how to change everything that needs to be changed. I'm kind of excited that I am doing this on my own!

Hello Friend ink blending background

Thursday, March 12, 2020
Have you seen the trend in blending inks to create beauitful backgrounds or elements for your cards? Today's card features this technique. I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to  4.25" x 5.5". I used 3 colors of ink in the blue green to green family. This means that all three inks would be found together on a color wheel. I started with the lightest color (Soft Sea Foam) and blended it into a medium green (Granny Apple Green) and blended into a blue green (Coastal Cabana). Then I die cut the piece with one of the Stitched so Sweetly dies and added my message or greeting stamp.

Here is a close up of the beautiful embossing powder I used! I am in LOVE with this black and glitter  embosses greeting!! Insider tip- this embossing powered doesn't work so well on fine line images. Go BOLD, pick something that is solid either an image or greeting.

Details for today's card

  • Card base is Coastal Cabana side folding card
  • Best Dressed DSP cut to 4"x 5.25"
  • Whisper White cardstock die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies
  • Shimmer Black Stampin' Emboss Powder
  • Basic Rhinestones and sequins

A Little Kinder Color Challenge #3

Sunday, March 1, 2020

Hello March! Now that the year long month of January is over, it feels like the year is starting to fly by. The hubs and I have a trip planned for the end of March and the little guy graduates in May. We have lots of visits to schools planned. Oh how I love the warmer weather after a beautiful snow packed winter, too bad we never got a snow packed winter here LOL! Today we are sharing the 3rd color challenge. I am in LOVE with this color combination. It's sweet and speaks to the beautiful flowers of spring!

Seaside Spray is my FAVORITE blue right now. It's a cool blue and leans a little bit to the baby blues but it's very grown up and sophisticated as a color goes.  I paired it with Petal Pink and Cherry Cobbler, although I don't necessarily see all three together in the same card. I feel like the Cherry Cobbler color needs to be an accent color that it applied sparingly. It's a heavy dense color with a lot of impact. It would be PERFECT for the sentiments of your cards.  Here is my first color inspiration for this challenge.

Y'all the simplicity of this card is so chic! A little water color splash behind some vellum, a few rhinestones... and it is a beauty!

Details for today's card

  • Card Base- Whisper white side fold
  • Whisper White Layer cut at 5.25x 4"
  • 2" circle of Vellum
  • Umbrella Punch and Under My Umbrella Stamp set
  • Basic Rhinestones
